Course Description
Child Care is a four year course that is a PDE approved program of study for students in grades 9 through 12. The curriculum incorporates competency based tasks with classroom knowledge applied to practical hands on experiences. Instruction includes areas such as, educational theories, developmental stages of children, program planning and management, safety, curriculum development, and clinical experiences. Students will compile a personal career portfolio, become certified in First Aid/CPR/AED, become a Mandated Reporter, and work toward the completion of the Child Development Associate credential.. The NOCTI exam will be given to all seniors, and a PA Skills Certificate will be awarded to students scoring advanced in both the written and performance components.
